Biocides & Scavengers

Our biocide is used as a chemical substance that can deter, destroy, or provide a controlling effect on any harmful organism. It is regularly used as a pesticide and should not be confused with any kind of plant protection product.

Commonly the biocides we produce are used in most of the offshore oil and gas industry of Gulf countries. They maximize production by protecting assets through the inhibition of microbial induced biofilm and corrosion.

Now our biocides are used in small amounts to control the growth of bacteria and other harmful organisms in the wellbore. The protection of equipment and an increase in the operational efficiency by controlling microbially induced corrosion are necessary. Our biocides effectively treat bacterial metabolisms, such as acids, scales, slime, and poisonous gases.

Additionally, our biocides are also useful to protect the top structure from rusting. The biocides work effectively to treat pipelines from bacterial growth. Our biocides are recommended to use during hydrostatic testing to prevent the internal equipment from corrosion. During hydraulic fracture, the chemical is used in small quantities while water is injected to the wellbore.

Types Of Bacteria Our Biocides Handles

Different types of bacteria are found in the oil and gas production well and equipment. Our biocides work effectively to lower the growth of common types of bacteria.

Sulfate-Reducing Bacteria

The common bacteria is hydrogen sulfide that can cause corrosion, reservoir souring, disposition of scales, and risks for one’s health.

Acid-producing Bacteria

This type has two common metabolisms such as organic acids and inorganic acid.

Slime Forming-Bacteria

It is a kind of polymer that can lead to biofilm, and enhance the growth of sulfate-reducing and acid-producing bacteria.

Our chemical mixing plants are responsible for producing certain types of chemicals after analyzing and preparing them in their high-end technical lab. Before our biocides chemicals are dispatched to the oil and gas agency, they go for a rigorous quality check to eliminate any potential problems.

Other Usages

Our biocides can be added to other materials to protect them against biological infestation and growth. For example, certain types of quaternary ammonium compounds are added to pool water or industrial water systems to act as an algicide, protecting the water from infestation and growth of algae.

It is often impractical to store and use poisonous chlorine gas for water treatment, so alternative methods of adding chlorine are used. These include hypochlorite solutions, which gradually release chlorine into the water, and compounds like sodium dichloro-s-triazinetrione (dihydrate or anhydrous), sometimes referred to as “dichlor”, and trichloro-s-triazinetrione, sometimes referred to as “trichlor”.

Such compounds are stable while solids and may be used in powdered, granular, or tablet form. When added in small amounts to pool water or industrial water systems, the chlorine atoms hydrolyze from the rest of the molecule forming hypochlorous acid (HOCl) which acts as a general biocide killing germs, micro-organisms, algae, and so on. Halogenated hydantoin compounds are also used as biocides.
